Alligator sausage po-boy

This is an alligator sausage po-boy. A po-boy is a type of sandwich New Orleans is known for. I also had a fried alligator po-boy. Alligators have a special hunting season where you can hunt them, but you do need a special permit. They have this hunting season to keep down the alligator population. Alligator actually tastes very nice. It has a similar sort of taste to chicken. In the background are pig fries, pig fries are chips with a sauce topped with thinly sliced onion rings.

Holding a small alligator

Yesterday we went on a swamp tour in Louisiana when we left New Orleans. On the tour we all got to hold this small alligator. Our tour guide called alligators to the boat and tried to grab one by its tail. He told us that when they first started they would feed the alligators marshmallows, but when it became a national park the government told them that they weren't allowed to feed the alligators. We went through a Bayou and our tour guide told us it's a very lonely because it's called Bayou self. He also said that if you take a photo of yourself while on the Bayou its called a Boyouselfie.

Alligator in the Everglades National Park Florida

The other day we visited the Everglades which is a swamp full of wildlife. While there we went on a 3 hour tram tour. During that tram ride we saw many different species of wildlife, including alligators vultures and many birds. We also saw crows picking food out of a basket on a bike. While there we saw the skeleton of a 12 foot alligator. The guide said that most of the time people take teeth out of the skull and he said that he was amazed the head was still there, normally people take them within 2 or 3 days of the alligator dying. He also said that the number of mammals in the park has dropped 90% due to boa constrictors. People had brought them to Florida as pets and then they grew too big or got too expensive to keep so they released them into the wild.
